i keep seeing everyone talking about Papagayo, when i first searched for it  i kept getting a Mexican restaurant.  how hard is this program to learn?  and how do you translate what you do in there over to the sequencer?

I use Papagayo and it is a great program. send me your email and I'll send you one of your requested songs. you can go to Bobo's site to download Papagayo. He has it plus tutorials and more. should answer all your questions. his translator program is also a must.

i can honestly say i have given papagayo a valid try.. Im just not getting it.. the only video i see on bobo's site is a advanced video, and it doesn't get into the basics of how to operate the program. im sure if i keep working with it i will figure it out, but with the show starting this close i don't know what im going to do..  Even on holiday coros site they only have one of my songs to purchase..

How do you get individual words to move.. I can get the sentence to move, but not the individual words? I'm trying so hard to figure this out..

If there's anyone that can help me with some of my songs you would be a life saver. Or show saver.. Lol. I have let it go, and christmas can can

I suggest going to Holidaysequences.com and purchasing your face sequences, Robert does a fantastic job and its well worth the $15.00 or so to get them done right, If you don't do the movements accurately, your going to notice it and you won't be happy

Just my 2 cents

alright.. im making progress.. I was able to do a voice over that my daughter did for the show.. and it came out really good.. the problem i have now is, is there a basic how to video on how to use the popagayo to lor program.. im having issues and i don't know if it's me just not understanding how to use the translator, or if it's a corrupt file.. when i download the program i get a error message "unhandled exception has occurred in your application.. if you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. if you click quit, the application will close immediately.. the small box comes up but it dosen't really give me options on things that i can do.  thanks for any help you can give me

Goto to the directory in program files Papagayo open the mouths folder make sure there are only .jpg in the folders.  That should clear out your error.  Also when you first open Papagayo to start a sequence only use wav files that are less than 1 1/2 minutes, use audacity to export sections of your song if longer then that.  Also you must have papagayo set to 25fps before you hit the breakdown button after adding lyrics.  You cannot, I repeat you cannot just change this after you hit the breakdown button, it will not line up correctly in LOR.

Matt

Check out my thread I Do xmas and Halloween sequences for free, I have alot of stuff there and a video on how to cut and paste sequences.

I have to give a huge thank you to bob... last night bob and i used to teamviewer so he could figure out my issues and I must say there were allot of them..  we started at 11:30pm and we didin't get done till about 1:30am..  But when we were done he had all the bugs worked out..   he definitely went above and beyond what he needed to do..  now to get these faces done.. ugggghhh

  • 2 weeks later...

It's frustrating the Papagayo is not smart enough to deal with changing the FPS from 24 to 25 without moving the time lines already in place.    I selected 25 fps when I started my first project and I did a nice job on it.  But when I went to export it said 25fps .. I have no idea how it reverted .. :-(

Has anyone used Version 2 of Papgayo with LOR ?  And if so, what improvements does it offer ?

I have tried the new version.  It does a real nice job with loading entire song into memory so you don't have to split them up into sections and YES IT REMEMBERS THE 25 FPS

I have tried to use the RGB Export in the Papagayo to LOR program.  I set up the colors I wanted.  It appears to pull in the .dat file from Papagayo OK, but when I try to Export to the LOR clipboard there is nothing there.   What might I be missing ?

UPDATE:  I should also mention that I am using dumb nodes (RGB strings), so I set the pixels to 1 for each Phoneme.

Just tried with RGB settings and I got data.  Try sending as a regular export NON RGB and see what you get.   It will at least tell us if it is the RGB settings or something else.

Yes, I get non-RGB fine.  But I also have difficulty getting the LOR clipboard to reload, so I might not be doing that correctly.  This is the first time I have used the LOR clipboard with an external file.

I am not sure if you have also tried the new Version 2 but I loaded that one as well.  But I had to give up on that one because it does not have the "Mouths" folder ..  So I could not figure out how to the Holiday Coro faces into the display for Version 2.

I got my first segment into my show last night.  The new talking Trees were a hit !   Today I am working on the next talking segment and still trying to use RGB.

I discovered that the problem with the RGB output is I am now getting 10 rows of data for the mouths, when I only have the Tree mouths configured for 5 rows of data.  I have the RGB set for 1 pixel per output since I am using dumb nodes (RGB strings) for my trees.  And my color

I get a clean 5 rows with non-RGB.  I cannot detect any repeated patterns with the 10 rows that show up in the RGB output.  I am thinking it has something to do with the outputs numbered 1 through 10.  I tried to change the output numbers to match what I had configured for the non-RGB but the panel will not let me change them.  It looks to me like we also should have double color columns so two mouth positions can be combined . ?   Has anyone else seen this ?

While I am commenting ..  I am using Windows 7 64 bit and my display for "Papagayo to LOR" looks a bit crushed.  For example the titles above the columns only show the upper half of the words.  I cannot seem to get the full column titles to display.  I have tried changing my resolution but that also does not help.

Is it possible that the RGB portion of Papagayo to LOR is not designed to do dumb RGB strings ?

I want to post a BIG THANKS to all who helped me.  I was finally able to create 3 nice segments for my new talking trees.  Mine are RGB, but I never could get the RGB function to work correctly.  So I just pasted my 5 mouth shapes into the first RGB channel for the color I wanted, and then performed 4 more cut-n-paste moves to move the rest of the mouth shapes down to the rows where they belong.

I created my own audio for a boy tree (blue outline, green eyes and red mouth) and a girl tree (red outline, blue eyes and pink mouth).  One for when they meet, one for their first date, and one where the trees introduce Wizards In Winter (that came out great).  We get about 20K people per year.  And even tho I got them up quite late, the kids are going nuts over the talking trees.

I tried to post my audio files in case others have boy and girl trees.  But the upload said they are too large, even tho they are small MP3 files.

Thanks again !!

My Many thank you's also go to Bob for helping me with Papagayo as well as setting up my vis file.

I was one who was trying to learn mostly by myself and his help was and is very much greatly appreciated.

He also went onto team viewer with me and helped me more then words can express..

I have not had time to actually complete any songs yet but his help was so gratefully given and I did learn a lot from him I just havent had time to practice what he preached (taught me yet).

Again a thousand and more thanks to you Bob for when you read this.
