I was starting to set up my display for this year and wanted to change something on the sequence from last years show. I keep getting the error of comm port not being found and software is not compatiable. Error 404....? and my version of vbalExploreBarCtl is outdated...? Can I ask if it is possible just to open the editor without a CMB24 board being pluged into the comm port and powered up? I do remember last year being able to program the sequence as a stand alone. Any advise on this would be great. Many Thanksjibbly71Australia. 1) You don't need any hardware hooked up to your computer to run the Sequence Editor. It will run regardless of hardware being attached, or not. 2) Sounds like something has somehow managed to become corrupt with your install. I would suggest an uninstall and reinstall of the software. If that doesn't work, then you can reply here. Be *sure* to include the version of software you are running. 3) Might want to make sure your drivers are installed correctly. They can be found at the bottom of this page. I have the exact same problem... did you uninstall then reinstall? I just tried to reinstall and it did not work... I get errors... UPDATE..... I cannot seem to uninstall it. It stops , gives me an error and reverses the uninstall.... I guess I will not get the Halloweeen show going today... Another update.... all the other modules in my LOR run. The only thing that will not run is the sequence editor.... I did get LOR installed on another old computer..... so I am not dead in the water. But my primary desktop has all the sequences on it. I guess I will use the MP3 player this year for Halloween. Hopefully I can get the desktop going before Thanksgiving.... I have some new sonmgs I want to sequence. Hopefullly they have a cleanup utility that will remove all traces of LOR, allowing you to reinstalll it properly. However, make sure you copy and move the sequences to some other location on the hard drive or you could lose those in the process. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Bubba in NV Posted October 24, 2014 Share Posted October 24, 2014 (edited) I used a ttwo month old disc image and retorred to that. Now it works. The take ownership did not work before which was listed in some other threads for those errors. BUt it did work in the recovered image.... I back up around every 60 days or so. Update again.... Keep in mind I have been using LOR for many many years with never a glitch or hiccup. aLL VERSIONS... Even though I got it back with image restore, when I tried to install the new update it would not install. SO.............. After it undid the install it was triying, IT WOULD NOT RUN AGAIN.... I was getting LOR Sequence Editor failed to load VbaExplorerBar CTL from VbaExplorerBar 6.ocx WHAT??????????????????? So I thought... well I have nothing to lose lets see if I can at least uninstall it now where I could not before.... Using Revo unstaller it actually uninstalled ....joy So I then installed the latest version. No problems, Runs fine, now I just have to get all my prefrences back. ..... joy joy I am assuming it must be a WIndows 8.1 update thing as I had not ran the sequence editor until a couple days ago since last November getting the Christmas show ready for Thanksgiving night. I run the shows off a very old desktop Dell computer that really sucks to edit sequences on, but runs the shows with no problem. When I edit the sequences I save them on my destop as well to the old desktop out in the garage using the network. ALl files and folders are in the same locations on both computers. I think had I been able to unstall in the beginning (but it would not do it) it would have just been a simple matter of re-installing. Lesson learned... it takes me longer to solve the crazy computer issues than it used to. Even though the solutions seem to be simpler....
