New to LOR - CMB24 and 16 Channel AC

Hi,

I am new to LOR.  I have just purchased a CMB24 and a 16 Channel AC Controller.  I was hoping to use sequences from the sequence store this year while I get used to the software.

I noticed that all the sequences have been developed for the 16 channel controllers. Each sequence refers groups of 16 channels.

I would like to know if it is difficult to convert a sequence to use the CMB24 along with one 16 Channel AC Controller or if there are pre-designed sequences I can purchase that use a conbination of the CBM24 and 16 AC Channels.

If the answer to the above is no I would be interested in any advice anyone has to offer on the best way forward.

Cheers

The CMB24 is an RGB DC controller, It is set up for use with Dumb RGB which is different than the LOR 16 Channel AC controller. In order to use the CMB24, you must add the device to your sequence (right click on a current channel and select Add Device-CMB24) select how many channels you want (24 max) or the 8 RGB channels-RGB uses 3 channels total. The sequencer will add the RGB channels to your sequence.

To my knowledge, none of the sequences in the store are RGB which means you wont be able to take advantage of the CMB24 unless you convert to RGB and then of course you need to have RGB pixels, strings, etc,

Des that make sense?

You can convert the sequences to RGB to take advantage of the RGB

Godman,

the CMB24 is a D.C. controller in the first place. Now it just happens to be optimized for dumb RGB with a channel count that can be divided by 3. And can max out with 8 RGB channels. While the 16 channel D.C. card can run RGB dumb devices also. But with 16 channels you can only have 5 RGB channels and there is one channel left over. Both cards do the same thing. Its just the 24 channels is optimized for RGB use for the above mentioned reasons.

Hi,

Thank you for the quick replies.  I should have been a bit more clear in my original post.  I understand that the CMB24 is a DC controller and only supports dumb RGB.  I have been using 5 meter RGB strips for quite sometime in my display.  This year I have taken the plunge into LOR and I am planning to have 16 channels (using the AC controller) on the house and it just so happens I have 40 meters of gutter for the dumb RGB.

Based on the research I have done and being new to the software I am just look to better understand how I can purchase one of the sequences from the LOR store and convert 8 of the channels to RGB.  My plan is to use the 4x4 methodology detailed in each of the sequences in the store for the first 16 channels.

They then talk about accent channels with is another 16 channels.  I was hoping to convert 8 of these to RGB.

Additionally I would be interested in knowing if there is another place I can purchased a sequence that has RGB catered for.

Cheers.
