A member shared a sequence, but I can't edit it!

I'm relatively new to LOR sequencing. A friend shared his sequence "Thriller" with me but I can't edit it to fit my show. There are six "Tracks". I don't know what "tracks" are. I have 32 channels, and have never dealt with tracks. I can edit Tracks 1 and 2, but not 3, 4, or five. How do I "unlock" the tracks? All tracks go to the same song. I'm confused!!

Basic and Basic Plus licenses will support a maximum of 2 tracks.

Standard supports 4.

The Advanced license will support unlimited tracks.

Tracks, are nothing more than a different view of the channels in the sequence. More from the manual here.

Am I able to delete Tracks 1 and 2 so that I can edit Track 3?

The number of tracks you can have in a sequence depends on your license level.  {been where you are, so I know the feeling!}

If your license is:  Basic or Basic Plus, your LOR sequencer only supports a maximum of 2 tracks, Standard License supports a maximum of 4 tracks,  and the Advanced License level supports an unlimited number of tracks.

So if your license level is below the number of tracks supported, you won't be able to edit the additional tracks, only what your license level will support.

It's one of the main reasons the majority of us here always say go with the "Advanced" license level as it opens up so many more options for you to use, and you usually wouldn't encounter these type issues when editing others sequences.

One option that comes to mind to edit your sequence will require you to do the following {if memory serves me here, i use tracks myself, so if there is any correction to my method, hopefully someone will chime in and correct anything I may have incorrect:  But I think this is the only way you can do it.

First off you'll need to create a new sequence to start with, have the NEW sequence open and A COPY of the tracks sequence open in the SE at the same time, then copy and paste from track 1 to your channel assignments in the new sequence.  Once you've copied everything you want from track 1 , delete track 1, once deleted, the next track should become available, and now be renamed{moved up} to track 1, do the same thing again, copy and paste what you want to use into your new sequence you created, then delete track 1 again, {each track will move up into track 1's position after each deletion of track 1}. just keep going until the final track will become available, repeat process and keep deleting track 1 until you've copied everything you want from the original "tracks" sequence to your version of the sequence   I don't think you will be able to delete the very final track, as that is now the main track, and if I recall correctly, you can't delete the only track in the sequence.  Your new sequence you created I believe will also show up as "track 1".

Unfortunately I know of no other, or easier way to do this, as it does sound like your license levels only supports two tracks and this is why you can't access or edit the additional 3 tracks in the sequence you acquired.

Also if you try and just delete the tracks and you've changed them to your display, everything you did will be lost, so use a copy of the tracks sequence so you don't lose the original, and, again, have the "copy" of the original tracks sequence open along with a new version sequence that your license level supports, follow the instructions above.  It'll get you where you need to be.

And you can see the different license levels and what's supported here: http://www1.lightorama.com/sequencing-suite-software/.

Scroll down to about center of the page to see all the different options each license levels allows.  So if your license doesn't support the features, you may want to consider the cost of upgrading your license to "Advanced", best thing you can do in my opinion.   I started with Basic+ and found out real fast that wasn't going to work for what I was wanting to do, paid the upgrade and moved to Advanced, just so much more you can do with the Advanced license, and then you won't be as limited like your current license level limits you on what you can do.
