Hacking S of L RGB smart lights?

Anyone here do any light hacking? I have two strings of "Symphony of lights" RGB smart bulbs, and they have a mind of their own, I would like to buy a DMX or LOR controller and make some lighted arches out of them. Any ideas where to start?

Most of the ones like that are made by Gemmy and or use the type of controller they use , its some sort of pulse vs SPI like the pixels we tend to use are . If you can see a data chip inside and get the numbers off it , you may get lucky . Otherwise I haven't seen any way to control them yet .

  1. Get an E6804 from SanDevices.
  2. Figure out the voltage. It's probably 5v, but you could tap into the wires to the bulbs to find out. This will also tell you the polarity
  3. Remove the controller (you won't use it), and wire it to the E6804. Make sure to get the power polarity correct, as you will damage the bulbs if you connect it backwards.
  4. It looks like the power supply that comes with those lights is an AC transformer, so you'll have to get a replacement power supply (probably 5v).
  5. Once the bulbs, power supply, and network are connected to the E6804, configure it for different chips until you find one that works.

If these bulbs are not using a standard chip, then this won't work, but now that the WS2801 is so common and cheap, I would guess that these strings use that, or something like it.
