I just started working with Papagayo and it is a great tool... Thanks Bob.... However, I am confused as to how to get the HC tree into the animation, as well as the left sidebar as shown in the video.  it is not a showstopper, but it certainly would help.  Great tool.. .will be spending plenty of time working on these.... Thanks.

Sean has created an easier install of the papagayo program.   This will get you the left side faces and create an icon I think.

If you are missing mouths you can get them here.  Unzip into papagayo mouths folder.

Hey Bob... That seemed to do the trick.  When I downloaded the software, I did have to manually place it in the programs(x86) folder (win8.1).

The only error I see is when I run papagayo, I get an error " no handler found for image type".  It seems to work otherwise...

Thanks for the hard work on this...

You are welcome.  The "no handler found for image type" message comes from papagayo which is not my handiwork.   You can ignore this without worry.  The problem is a file in the mouth folder which is not a gif or jpg.   Its looking for some code to handle opening it but cant find it.

One more question Bob... When I try to load an MP3 into Papagayo, the file does not load, and the screen stays greyed out... I can load the wav files from the tutorial folder just fine... Am I doing something wrong ?

Thanks.

Papagayo only takes WAV files. You will need to convert them using a program like audacity. Also a recommendation is to cut the song up into sections and do it piece by piece. Papagayo has problems with when the songs get too long

Thanks 1983... That's what I thought.... Guess I gotta convert all of my songs to WAV that I want to use in PG... I assume there will be no issues with timing....

Make sure you use the WAV file in your sequence as well or timing will be off

UGH.... If that means what I think it means.... Then the timings for all of the other elements may be off as well, if I have to use the .wav.... *SIGH*

I have never had any timing issues using .wav in Papagayo and then MP3 for the sequences. I do all my Papayago editing in parts by cutting the wave file into small sections. don't forget to set the frame rate in Papagayo to 25. Very important. if you use any other frame rate the timing will be off. once all the conversion has been done using Papagayo to LOR I load all the clipboard files into the sequences editor and load the full MP3 into the sequence. then I place all the clipboard parts into the song. sometimes I have to figure out the exact timing location for the part to start but other then that the entire part lines up perfectly. the one thing about an MP3 that will make the timing off is saving it using a variable bite rate. MP3 files need to have a fixed bite rate or they will cause the song to not line up in the sequence editor. Most audio editing software allows you to save the MP3 in a fixed bite rate. I use Sony Sound Forge and it is a little on the high end but it has a lot of great features and I have been using it as a audio editor for almost 20 years. The more you play with Papagayo the more you will overcome some of these issues. and they really aren't that big of a deal with all these brilliant people here on the forums to help. Just have fun with it.

Let me clarify something I posted above. I don't cut up the wav file.  I copy portions of the MP3 file into smaller files I save as .wav files. I use the original MP3 as the main song in the sequence. what I do is highlight and copy the section of the MP3 song such as the first verse. then I open a new file and paste the copied section. I then trim it down as needed. the last thing I do is hit SAVE AS, then pick wave file. this leaves the original MP3 intact and creates a wave file for Papagayo. I always save them in there own folder under the song title and then each wave file is saves as a number 001,002,003 etc. when I convert them to clipboard files, if there is more then one voice in each file saved the vioce 1 in file 001 will be clipboard 001. voice 2 in file 001 will be clipboard 001a and voice 3 in file 001 will be clipboard 001b. this keeps things in sequential order under each songs title both in the folder I save each song and also in the clipboard folder in LOR.

Well even doing as stated I have had issues with faster lyrics in songs not staying with the words when not using a WAV file, even using a constant bit rate mp3. Just my experience as it was recommended by bob to use the WAV in the sequence.

I had read, I believe that it was Sean with Nutcracker, that the issue with having to cut the song up for papagayo is no longer needed, that it could handle 4 or 5 minute songs with no issue...and that was very recently

you are probably right but once you start using Papagayo you will see why most of us only use the portion of the songs with words. if the song has a long portion with out words Papagayo spreads the inputted words over the entire song when you Break It Down. this causes you to have to spend a lot of time lining up the phrases. then after that you gotta line up the words. The editing screen only has so much room and moving the verses is a pain in the but on large files. this has been my experience.

Great information.  Thanks everyone... I do use Audacity to greate the CBR MP3's.... I'll be working on this over the next couple of week, so we'll see how it goes... I guess it just takes some playing around with it to see what works best... The point of breaking up the files makes sense as well, especially with songs that have musical breaks inbetween.

I am still having some issues with papagayo... I have created 2 sequences now.  In both cases once I import the face channels into the sequence, as the audio progresses, the face sequence starts to move ahead of the audio.  I used a wav (converted form MP3) from Audacity, ensured that the FrameRate in PG was 25 before I started, and had everything lined up how I wanted it and it was in sync.  Once I exported to LOR clipboard and then imported into the existing sequence, the same issue occured in both cases.  I ended up having to past the clipboard into a new sequence and copy paste in small sections to get the alignment correct.  As you can imagine, this creates more work effort as things need to be re-aligned again.  I am certainly not complaining as PG saves allot of time, and is free, along with the efforts that Bob has put into the tools, but I wonder if there is something I am missing here ? I have several more songs to go, and am trying to find a solution if there is one.  Thanks.
