I think it would be a big help, have not had the time to play with the software yet, still working on the heads and servos. Not to derail this thread, but I am making a Santa and Mrs Claus, what are you all using for the flesh colored face material ??? I have a 6 servo head working and might be 7 soon with eyebrows, but not really sure what to use for the face. I have found silicone masks for $300-$500, BUT would like to spend that money elsewhere in the display.

Yes, Yes, Yes!

I used to avoid "talking" displays because I didn't like the way they were programmed but I would absolutely work with this!

I would even create a special face with 11 channels just to get something more accurate if you went that far :P

bump

Does that bump mean you have installed Papagayo and learned how to use it?

I am working on it between taking my kids to the fair and other parental junk.

Here are the two panels which are mostly done. Important to note that each display is different so the main part of this is to have the user enter the mapping of channels to mouth shapes.

I have installed it and already started to get an intro for my Halloween setup underway. Its Dee Snider's Van Helsings Curse.

I agree though, the software is not very user friendly. You must read the help file.

Great job. Can't wait for your translater. I have been playing with the program to get a handle on it. (sure wish you could limit playback to the visible screen).

First beta release is ready.

http://itsmebob.com/SD.html

Basic steps..
Download and install Papagayo.
Export your mouth movements to a .dat file.
Run Papagayo to Lor
Select your channels for each mouth shape.
IMPORTANT.. this creates a Clipboard... which means you are not setting the channel...
Instead you select the relative channel in your sequence.
1 is for the topmost channel you will paste into.. 2 for the second..etc
This implies your mouth channels must be next to each other... but may be any order.
Create the LOR clipboard then open it in SE and paste into your sequence at the right spot.

Good work Bob!

I downloaded the beta and had an issue right away.
It gave me a .net framework error.

I checked the registry, it has 3.0 3.5 and 4.0 all installed.

Here is the contents of the error:

See the end of this message for details on invoking

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

There is a new beta release now. The error in now being trapped but not handled since I dont know what caused it. Which means you will get a pop-up box and the program will continue instead of a bomb. There is something about your setup which is preventing the normal flow.

Here is my first edumacated guess. The folder called mouths under the papagayo install folder needs write authority to store your configs.
In the near future I will release the HolidayCoro pictures which you must add as a subfolder here.

Thank you for reporting this error. The next time all I need is the first 3 lines of Exception text.
