  1. Multiple shows?

I'm going to be putting on a show at a local park this upcoming Christmas. I'm going to have two different shows, one running on the even hour and the other on the half hour. I know this is possible with a PC running the show, but is something like this possible with the G3 MP3 Director? Everything I'm seeing says no but I want to make sure. -Gary-
  2. Multiple shows?

That was about the idea I came up with too. 9 shows scheduled four a half hour each would handle the 5:30 to 10:00pm timeframe I was looking at. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Multiple shows?

But each show can be only for a set period of time, not alternating as I want to do. And it'll almost do it except I need 11-12 shows to cover a 5pm til 10pm time frame.
  4. Multiple shows?

Both of the MP3 directors (the original and the G3) have the real time clock. That's exactly what I'm trying to do but from looking at the show creation functions of the hardware utility (on the MP3 tab), I appears that only one show can be scheduled per day for a set time frame, which is what I used to do at the fairgrounds. What I need to be able to do is repeat multiple shows, alternating on the half hour (show one on the hour, show 2 on the half hour) and it doesn't appear it'll do it. -Gary-
  5. Hardware Utilitiy and Pixe4

That's a limitation that DevMike has referred to before and is with the hardware utility. I think he mentioned that the new version (S5, when it comes out) is supposed to have a much better test facility than S4 currently has.
  6. 4 & 8 Pixie controllers VS what software upgrade to?

Well, hopefully the new firmware will be available soon as will a way to update the bootloader on the Pixie's which is why they couldn't get them to accept updated firmware. Once the Pixies are updated, they can behave just like the CCR ribbons, using all the macro channels available (7 I think). Without the update, you'd program them just as you do normal pixels (3 channels, or 1 RGB channel) per pixel. Resolution would then be set on the Pixie configuration page.
  7. Hardware Utilitiy and Pixe4

Only way to really test individual channels is to use the Pixel Console, click the CCR/CCP/Pixie radio button, select the unit Id for the port you want to test and use the sliders to manipulate each string.
  8. 4 & 8 Pixie controllers VS what software upgrade to?

One little side note. The Pixie4, Pixie8 and Pixie16 as they originally shipped (v1.01) will NOT emulate the CCR's as the book says they will. The original software (v1.01) skipped the emulation to enable shipment of the units (time constraints). A new software (firmware) version is in development which will enable ALL the features that the Pixie controllers are designed for. -Gary-
  9. Light Up Ohio 2017

Tickets ordered and received and hotel reservation made
  10. TABCTL32.OCX Error

Sounds like the file wasn't registered in the system registry. The upgrade you did fixed the problem by registering that file. This happens from time to time. I had the same thing happen a while back. Another solution would have been to totally uninstall and run the registry wipe utility from LOR which clears out any left over pieces. Sometimes those left over pieces can cause havoc too -Gary-
  11. Pixie Firmware update?

Just wondering what if anything is known about the upcoming Pixie update and how close it might be to being released? Looking forward to the addition of the CCR emulations. -Gary-
  12. Pixie Firmware update?

Steve, just a heads up. The problem with loading the new firmware via the hardware utility turned out to be a problem with the bootloader on the chip. The board I'll be getting will be at v1.02 still but with the fixed bootloader. All I have to do is the request the beta software version and upload it to the Pixie with the hardware utility as normal.
  13. Just wondered what the latest time frame is for the firmware updates for the Pixie controllers to handle the macro channels? -Gary-
  14. Pixie software updates for CCR/CCP/CCB macros?

I just submitted a help ticket. We'll see what happens I'd really love to test out this new version. I have a number of CCR sequences that I could modify to test as many of the macros as possible.
  15. Pixie software updates for CCR/CCP/CCB macros?

Is there a best way to contact them about this? I sent John a message but when he sees it is anyones guess...:)
  16. Pixie software updates for CCR/CCP/CCB macros?

I did indeed see that. I have a number of sequences that use the macro channels so I could certainly help. I got nothing else to do this spring
  17. Pixie software updates for CCR/CCP/CCB macros?

Yeah, most people running 16 strings go with the PixCon16 instead. I wanted the Pixie update to use the CCR macro functions and to be able to run multiple arches on just one controller as well as use any string of pixels the Pixie supports without being limited to the 6803 chipset.
  18. Pixie software updates for CCR/CCP/CCB macros?

Giving this a bump, hoping for an answer.
  19. Pixie 16D

In this case, George is right. I also use the same method he does and it works flawlessly. I use these type of connectors where I work and they ALWAYS pinch the wire towards the screw. I have yet to see one that works the other way. If I have questions, I find out from the supplier data sheets as to how they are to be used. The problems you had may have resulted from not enough wire stripped to go far enough into the connector. I always allow a quarter inch and trim if needed. -Gary-
  20. 4amp fuse not enough with 100 nodes

A possible option is to bring power directly to the nodes and tie only the ground, clock and data lines to the Pixie. You'd need to provide your own fuse (an inline auto fuse holder works well) in this case. -Gary-
  21. 2017 Display!

Displayed in Edge just fine here. -Gary-
  22. Pixie Firmware update?

Spring is coming in just two weeks I'm just dying to use the Pixie for ribbon strips. I'd gotten the same time frame and am just getting anxious I guess.
  23. Configuring a Pixie4

Just wondering a few things. As I read the documentation for the Pixie controllers, it indicates they can emulate a CCR (of which I have two currently). I have sequences which will run perfectly on the original CCR controllers but I can't get them to work no matter how I configure the pixie controller. The manual is close to useless as it seems to be written by software engineers for software engineers and not normal users. Also, Pixie4 and Pixie 4D are used interchangeably in the documentation. What's the difference? Any help you be appreciated! I'm using 50 count pixel strings with 2811B IC's controlling each pixel. The controller is a Pixie4. Software is 4.3.18 Pro
  24. Configuring a Pixie4

Received a reply from support. Due to time constraints the current firmware does not support the CCR emulation but a new update, due within 60 days, will contain the emulation code. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Configuring a Pixie4

In re-reading the Pixie manual, it appears the only Pixie controller that will be able to emulate the CCR/CCB controller is the Pixie 4D which hasn't even been released yet! Why the heck is it even in the documentation! Only took 50 times reading those pages before it sunk in. Anyone wanna buy a Pixie 4? No use to me now. I refuse to re-program all my CCR sequences. Teach me to use something proprietary (the macro's) in my sequences! Gets ya bent over every time. I suggest LOR change their description for the Pixie 4 as it states the following directly in the Pixie 4 features: Supports legacy mode which makes each string behave like a CCR or a single string CCB. Support all features of these devices (color effects and macros) Either the docs are wrong or the description of the Pixie 4 is. Can't be both ways!
