  6. I put my tune to sign on a channel on one of the controllers. Mostly program that channel to always be on. But, if I need to be all dark for that moment before the big moment, well then I tell it to be off then too. I do my stable/manger scene the same way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. Residential controllers are better at keeping small critters out too. Piece of foam pinched in cable spots and you're done. The metal ones also are not sprinkler proof. I agree with Mr. P and Master George, buy more lights with the money you save. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. And if talking about a spiral tree - check this one out: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&ved=0ahUKEwjCi_v7s5HVAhVUHGMKHWBfCzEQFghCMAM&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.lightsonsixth.com%2Fstuff%2FSpiraltreespreadsheet-97.xls&usg=AFQjCNGMCPK2xt7p9aIRAe4aAv9Io2Besw

  18. Here's my latest project – I'm adding (8) mini trees this year. I'm 95% LED, so 20,000 lights is only about 20amps. I still have my show split out onto 9 separate GFCI circuits, which helps with the “leakage accumulation”. I typically don't have issues tripping GFCIs myself. However, I read and read and read that many of you have problems tripping GFCIs, some of which can be traced back to tomato cage style mini trees. So I've been searching and researching how to best, & inexpensively, build a non-metallic mini tree. I saw a video with a guy using PVC and a hula-hoop (link at bottom). I liked the idea a lot and so I modified his plan somewhat. Instead of screws that can cut the light strands, I'm using tie wraps. Instead of a hula hoop, I'm using plumbers PEX pipe. I think they turned out just perfect.... Cuts & shopping list: Cut (5) 1/2" sch40 PVC x 36" long Cut (1) 1/2” PEX x 48” long 1/2” x 1/2” straight inside coupling bag of black tie wraps 3/16” x 8” long couple of 3/16” x 11” tie wraps can of flat black spray paint Tools needed: PVC cutter (or hacksaw) 5/8” rotory rasp for drill 11/64” drill bit Here's the raw assembled mini tree. Painted it flat black. Cuts down on glare and just plain looks better. Final tree with (4) colors LED; RWB-G. Could use pixels, or even those old style suck-you-dry-incandescent lamps. Even if you don't think LEDs are worth it for energy, I won't break these stacking them in off season and my blues stay blue for years... not weeks..... And as disclosed above - I modified an idea from someone else. Don't know him, but here's his video - in case you wondered, pondered, or just plain wanted to watch it.
  19. Most people don't have a huge problem with tomato cage trees tripping GFCIs anyway. Especially if you buy quality sealed LED strands to wrap them with. I'd be afraid most fabrics would still let through current when wet, and probably would start to mold sooner than you'd like. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. As Mr. P suggested, play around with the calculator. I like about a 1/2 ratio. 12' high = 6'base - 15' high = 7-1/2' base. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  24. Even have my candy cane spinners in multiple groups. Reversed the channel order on spinner B. Then copy A and paste = spin towards each other. Limitless when group within groups thinking takes over. My problem is what to do with it all. Creative blocks coupled with my already sucky sequencing can really slow me down. Bummer. Now I need more to drink.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Oh man. On track 2, have every group can think of with groups in the groups. Example: Have the obvious mega tree group with the super-strands you taught me; RWB-G. So inside of that group, I made a red strand group, a white strand group, ect.. I also use that on my bushes & globes, ect. Then made a Red Group, with the red mega tree group, red bush group, red globe group. Repeated for other colors. Want only all red on? Open the red group. But as George taught me, moving groups are only & always on track 2, so as not to screw with my master track.. Then, whatever group I'm working on, drag it to the top to see beat marks & time scale, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
